![]() ![]() Overall, the SLP 420 and 450 printers are decent products, though maybe a bit tricky for mainstream users to set up or troubleshoot. I've noticed that our printer technicians sometimes have difficulty setting up the label printers, but the trick is to ensure that paper size, margins, orientation (portrait versus landscape) are set properly. ![]() ![]() We've had no problems using the bundled SmartLabel software for printing single labels, though we typically use Microsoft Word or Excel to print multiple labels at a time. The SLP 450 seems to keep a tighter grip on the labels than the 420 so the 450 is a little tougher to fix when labels mis-feed. This usually helps to keep output alignment straight. Our solution to this problem is to turn the printer on its side. When the printer is upright, output tends to either slant towards one side of the label and can print outside the physical margins of the label. As with other reviewers, we have found that these printers have difficulty keeping output alignment straight when using labels less than the maximum height supported by the printer (i.e., the 1.13 x 3.5 inch small address labels), even when the label guides are fitted to the label roll. My workplace uses Seiko 420 and 450 label printers to print address labels and Code 39 barcodes. I guess I should be happy that it lasted as long as it did (I've been using this one since 2012, and I believe someone else used it for a few years before me, though not as frequently as I do), but even when it was at it's peak it still wasn't that great. I'm considering it a lost cause and will ask my company to purchase a new one. ![]() I can't even tell you how many labels I have wasted trying to resolve this issue, but I don't think I am going to bother trying anymore. Yet the problem has gotten worse and now it just stops printing about halfway through a label almost 90% of the time. I haven't changed any settings, done any upgrades, or changed the type of labels I'm using. However, within the past couple of months the printer has started to turn itself off in the middle of printing. However, it was never so terrible that I couldn't put up with it. For my business we use labels about half that size for addresses, so I encounter this frustration frequently. The only situation in which this wouldn't matter is if you're using it to print labels that span the full width of the printer. Loading labels isn't that difficult, but even if you are very careful with the alignment, the printer will incremently misalign them with each label you print, until the labels are all the way to one side of the printer. Select the Start button, then go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. This label printer is inconsistent and frustrating at times. To update Windows or see available updates, do the following on the bottom left-hand corner of your PC screen: Fix updates were also included in a scheduled Windows update on July 13th called KB5004237 which resolves any outstanding issues with this issue affecting users.ĭetails on the July 13th update and which versions of Windows are affected are listed in the KB5004237 update history (Builds 19041.1110, 19042.1110, and 19043.1110). Microsoft has issued a fix for Windows Update KB5004237, which was previously addressed in the "Know Issue Rollback" (KIR) on July 8th 2021. The most common issue is that print jobs are sent but not actually printed and this can be attributed to one or more updates: KB5004945 (Issues for all brands), KB5004760, or KB 5003690. You may have noticed a lot of issues with printing from your PC recently, especially after the recent Windows Update. Microsoft are developing a security update to address this issue, which they should hopefully resolve quickly. This flaw was discovered by Microsoft’s own engineers who found it had been exploited for years without their knowledge! They have since released an initial workaround which is the recommendation of disabling the Windows Print Spooler service, however this will also disable printing on your computer as well. Microsoft recently announced a vulnerability in Windows that could allow malicious software from the internet to access important information like passwords and credit card numbers. Microsoft is currently investigating this problem in hopes that a solution will be found soon for those encountering difficulties printing after updating their device's operating system. This issue has been happening with all models running any version of Windows 10 from “1H1, 20H on both servers as well as personal computers (PCs). After installing the June/July 2021 Windows 10 Security Update, users are unable to print using many brands of label printers. ![]()
